Trencherman’s does Rock Oyster Festival

Trencherman’s chefs rocked last weekend’s Rock Oyster Festival in full-on foodie style

Trencherman’s was represented in style last weekend when member chefs wowed visitors to the Cornish food and music festival with their culinary prowess.

Trencherman’s members past and present rocked the Pearl Stage (sponsored by Food Magazine) with foodie demonstrations. The kitchen glitterati included chefs Paul Ainsworth of Paul Ainsworth at No 6 (and other restaurants) in Padstow, Best Trencherman’s Chef 2021 Guy Owen of Karrek and The Brasserie in Rock, John Hooker of The Cornish Arms in Tavistock, Jude Kereama (pictured top) of Kota Restaurant in Porthleven, Mick Smith of Porthminster Beach Cafe in St Ives, Jeff Robinson of New Yard Restaurant in Helston, Josh Eggleton of Pony Bistro, Root and The Kensington Arms in Bristol, Simon Hulstone of The Elephant in Torquay and many more.

Trencherman’s Guide editor Jo Rees also hosted a session on the Pearl Stage with TV chef and baker extraordinaire Juliet Sear.

The festival offered as many opportunities to taste great food as it did the chance to watch great chefs, as a number of leading restaurants provided pop-up versions of their bricks-and-mortar establishments in the Chefs Tipis. Festivalgoers could do a whistlestop tour of restaurants including The Mariners, St Kew Inn, The Cornish Arms and Kota Restaurant in a day if they had the appetite for it.

In addition, fabulous coffee demos and drinking were provided by Voyager Coffee, Sharp’s Brewery kept the crowd refreshed with its much-loved portfolio of quality beers (plus its just-launched cider) while newbie Cornish rum 8Track wowed visitors at the Mussel Beach bar and demo area. And, of course, all manner of small indie producers showcased their artisan edibles.

The thousands of food and music lovers who escaped to Trencherman’s Country for the weekend also got to leap about in a field to incredible DJs Krafty Kuts and Jaguar Skills, get down with Dub Pistols and Soul II Soul and feel the vibe with Gilles Peterson and Nick Mulvey.

Plans for next year’s festival are already afoot and Trencherman’s is going to be in full force – watch this space for news of the line-up.

The thought of splashing £200 plus on dinner for two might make you wince, but every penny is well accounted for in the uber luxe Lucknam Park experience.
