Casual beachside dining at Gylly Beach Cafe

Azure waters, soaring gulls and paddleboarders in the bay are just a few of the uplifting sights to drink in when lunching at Gylly Beach Cafe, as the award-winning cafe restaurant enjoys a prime location on the sand.

A seat on the terrace is the perfect spot for speciality coffee and brunches which range from the full Cornish breakfast to savoury baked waffles and toasted muffins.

Come lunchtime, diners can feast on cafe classics such as a Cornish steak burger or small plates of roasted peppers and panko-breaded calamari – fabulous when enjoyed with a glass of Camel Valley Sparkling Brut.

However, it’s in the evening that the beachside banqueting really begins, as the cafe’s laidback beachy vibe gives way to ambient coastal dining. Masterchef: The Professionals quarter finalist Dale McIntosh prepares Cornish seafood with flair, while meaty specials include roasted rump of West Country lamb.

The impressive fish bar is worth exploring to discover which delicacies the local fishing boats have landed. Choose between the likes of Gyllyngvase Beach lobster, Mylor crab and St Ives Bay scallops, or plump for line-caught Falmouth mackerel served simply with buttered Cornish corn on the cob.

If you’re swinging by in the daytime, visit Gylly’s beach-hut bakery for the likes of olive-laced focaccia, light brioche burger buns and classic fougasse à la Provençale.

The restaurant has a reputation for fun music evenings and barbecues – check the Gylly Beach Cafe website for upcoming events.
