Spectacular views across Poole Harbour provide a glittering backdrop to an evening of feasting at Rick Stein Sandbanks, the Dorset outpost of the Stein collective.
The main restaurant on the first floor offers The Seafood Restaurant classics like fruits de mer and dover sole à la meunière. For casual daytime dishes, such as moules marinières, the downstairs bar is the go‑to. It’s also a great spot for a luxurious celebration brunch.
While seafood steals the limelight in both dining areas, committed carnivores and veggies are also extremely well catered for. Just as Rick’s fish‑focused recipes are inspired by his travels around the world, so are plant‑based creations such as vegetable makhanawala curry, and ravioli of caramelised onion and fennel seeds served with sun‑dried tomatoes, porcini mushrooms and hazelnuts.
Service is as good as the food: the restaurant scooped the Trencherman’s Award for Best Front of House Team in 2020.
