Divine dining and views
Perched on nature’s edge, the most southerly hotel on mainland Britain offers the prospect of being immersed in the wild beauty and drama of the Lizard Peninsula.
Start by sipping a cocktail from Marconi’s Bar, either in the garden or by the open fire. Then head into Joseph Fallowfield’s eponymous restaurant to enjoy creative clifftop cuisine that reflects the seasons and stunning landscape.
Ingredients, sustainably sourced from within a 25‑mile radius of the hotel, include lamb that’s grazed the fields of the farm next door and fish landed by the Cadgwith Cove boat (which can often be spotted from the garden).
‘We create menus based around these fantastic suppliers,’ says Joseph. ‘It’s much easier to create incredible food when you begin with incredible components.’
Every six weeks Joseph creates a new produce-led tasting menu which takes diners on a culinary tour of Cornwall. Occasional supper clubs also feature.
Sister restaurant The Terrace is another fantastic find, and perfect for relaxed dining or afternoon tea overlooking the bay.
The hotel’s all‑year‑round charm is best experienced by staying in one of its 24 guestrooms, which each offer a unique view of the peninsula. Take it as an opportunity to switch off, reconnect with nature and ramble the coast path.
