Truro’s delicious dining pub

This cosy dining pub in Truro is a find for indulgent food, an intimate candlelit atmosphere, great beers and wines, and barrels of bonhomie.

The Rising Sun chef patron Tom and partner Katie (who runs everything backstage – from drinks-list curation to event planning) combine a love of food culture and characterful wines and spirits with a passion for excellent Cornish produce at their charming edge-of-the-city find.

Sidestep the bustle of downtown Truro and take a five-minute stroll from the city centre to be embraced within the warm environs of this foodie favourite. Tom’s creative, ever-evolving menus take the best of nearby land and sea: he crafts pleasing dishes from the likes of Cornish scallops, local pheasant breast and just-landed fish.

The wine list is just as thoughtfully designed and there’s always something interesting to try (plus recommendations on what will pair best with each dish). The gin list and beers and ales are also noteworthy, so there’s every reason to extend your pairing beyond the grape.

Kick off an evening at The Rising Sun with an aperitif by the fire (or in the courtyard garden on warm evenings), then settle in for a feast of rich and indulgent delights in the intimate restaurant.
