Seaside-smart at West Bexington
Old meets new at this Chesil Beach bungalow bistro (a former Olympic-pool clubhouse) with its preppy New England vibe.
The Club House’s beautiful Art Deco interiors provide a fitting backdrop to head chef Shane Punshon’s modern seasonal menus, which centre around the region’s world-class seafood.
The chef’s mission is to make fish the hero of each dish, enhanced by top-notch, fresh ingredients from local fishermen and farmers.
An innovative cocktail menu signposts the perfect way to start an evening at The Club House: check out concoctions like Toast of Chesil Beach – toast-infused Black Cow vodka, lime juice, marmalade, honey syrup and toast crumbs.
Then take a seat on the heated top deck and watch the sun slip behind the sea as you sip your cocktail and nibble an order of crispy tempura oysters.
The menu features the likes of West Bay lobster and Chesil smoked salmon, alongside plenty of globally inspired meat and veggie options. Sides come courtesy of the kitchen garden while puddings, such as strawberry and rhubarb choux bun, provide a decadent finish.
Trencherman’s tip: looking for a unique wedding venue? The Club House is newly licensed.
