Salumi Bar & Eatery

18 Millbay Road, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 3LH

Flexible dining for all appetites

Salumi has established itself as a go-to eatery for many Plymouth residents thanks to its flexible dining approach and uber-friendly service. Whether it’s a family Sunday lunch, a date-night dinner, or cocktails and a sharing board with friends, all bases are covered.

Inside, bright turquoise-painted tables, chairs and fittings contrast with oak beams and exposed brick walls to create a rustic vibe. Seating is split across multiple levels and there’s a large outdoor courtyard area with wooden benches and a fire kitchen, where many of the dishes are prepared.

Chefs Dave Jenkins and Jake Hardington have created menus to suit any whim, be it full-blown feasting or nibbles over drinks. Lunchtime bagels – topped with the likes of Welsh rarebit, spiced tomato and red pepper chutney, sauerkraut and crispy onion – delight casual diners, while those after something more formal will find it in the prix fixe lunch and evening à la carte menus.

The food is modern British but with Asian influences aplenty. Take the Sunday lunch menu, which features traditional roasts alongside a smattering of surprises such as barbecue king-oyster-mushroom bao buns, and yaki udon with seaweed, shimeji mushroom and bok choy.

Trencherman’s tip: Sunday roasts are served from 11am till 8pm but are extremely popular, so booking is advised.
