Stay the night

Spectacular views and sumptuous seafood

There are few better views of Salcombe Estuary than those from The Jetty Restaurant at Salcombe Harbour Hotel. As the sun slips below the horizon, the restaurant’s terrace is a fabulous spot for drinking in the vista with a cocktail to hand.

The panorama isn’t The Jetty’s only draw, however. Fresh fish and signature dishes from head chef Jamie Gulliford ensure the restaurant is permanently buzzing. House favourites include the surf-and-turf platter and plump hake fillet topped with a crab and herb crust.

Longstanding relationships with local fishermen ensure the latest catch is always on offer, yet the daily menu is not exclusively pescatarian. The twice-baked cheese soufflé and the succulent lamb grazed on south Devon pasture are just as popular. The restaurant offers an all‑day menu with the same beguiling options running from lunch to dinner, and is open to residents and non‑residents alike.

Those wishing to stay the night will find many of the spacious rooms have waterfront views and all guests gain access to the subterranean spa. Each room comes with complementary decanters of gin and sherry, so guests can raise a toast to a delicious south coast staycation.

Trencherman’s tip: cocktails and an order of cockle popcorn are the way to kick off an evening’s feasting – Jetty style.
