We’ve found the perfect antidote to the cold-weather blues in the form of a comforting takeout feast prepared by Tytherleigh Arms in Axminster. The hidden gem on the Devon/Dorset border is providing locals with an exquisite home-dining experience which will be available for collection every Saturday night during lockdown.
Tytherleigh’s takeout is available for Saturday collection between 5.30pm-7.30pm. Orders must be placed via email by 5pm on Friday for the Saturday night takeout. It’s a takeaway drive-through service, so once you’re in the restaurant’s car park you’ll be greeted by a member of staff (at a safe distance) so you can collect your food.
This former coaching inn has provided food, drink and hostelry for people passing through the south coast’s glorious stretch of countryside for around 500 years. Today, the team at Tytherleigh Arms continue to honour its heritage with a menu of modern British cooking, a well-stocked bar and collection of cosy bedrooms.
Lympstone Manor alumni Jack Cannell heads up the kitchen, drawing on the experience he gained at the Michelin starred manor to craft elegant courses using the best of the local larder. In addition to making it into the Trencherman’s Guide, Tytherleigh Arms holds two AA rosettes, a Michelin Plate and has featured in the Good Food Guide.
