Charming dining by the sea

With its English country-house charm and stonking sea views across the Roseland Peninsula, The Nare transports guests to a bygone era where G&Ts in the lounge and a stroll on the beach before dinner were standard.

The hotel hosts both a restaurant and a more formal dining room, each of which showcases the finest Cornish produce from land and sea.

The two-AA-rosette Quarterdeck restaurant’s yacht-themed decor matches its menu, which features local lobster and decadent seafood platters. There are also options from the surrounding countryside, such as succulent fillet of Cornish beef or tenderloin of pork wrapped in pancetta. More formal dining and a daily changing menu can be found in The Dining Room. Expect starched powder-blue tablecloths, silver service and trollies wheeled to your table brimming with hors d’oeuvres, desserts and cheese. This is the place to be for those who enjoy donning their glad rags and revelling in impeccable service.

The Nare’s Sunday lunches are elegant affairs too. Begin with an aperitif and canapés in the lounge before taking your seat at a table overlooking the ocean.

Trencherman’s tip: for a romantic adventure, hotel guests can book The Nare’s motor launch to enjoy a picnic on the waves.
