Stein’s Padstow classic

With its winning mix of smart‑casual dining, ultra‑fresh local seafood and global wines, Rick and Jill Stein’s flagship restaurant is a longstanding classic on the South West dining scene.

Join the discerning pilgrims who journey to Padstow to sample Stein favourites such as the gloriously messy Singapore chilli crab or Indonesian seafood curry of cod, monkfish and prawns. Dishes change frequently depending on what produce head chef Pete Murt gets delivered to his kitchen door, so there’s always something fresh to try.

Those looking to push the boat out should sample the tronçon of turbot with hollandaise sauce. Served in the English style, it’s Rick’s all-time favourite dish.

Dining at a table in the restaurant is delightful but, if you’re only swinging by for a bite and a glass of wine, take the opportunity to perch at the zinc bar and watch the restaurant in action. For the full Stein experience book one of the upstairs guestrooms, many of which have enjoyed a stylish makeover this year.

Trencherman’s tip: The three-course set lunch menu, available for £30 on weekdays from October to May, is fabulous value if you’re after a daytime dining experience.
