Fresh-from-the-ocean seafood is the calling card of award-winning restaurant The Galley in Topsham, just a stone’s throw from the River Exe.
Located in a charmingly crooked 18th-century Devon townhouse, The Galley Topsham has an intimate bistro vibe that makes it an ideal date-night venue. Reserve a table for two and indulge in a couple or three courses from the fish-forward menu and pair them with something special from the extensive wine list.
Head chef Jack Harvey honed his craft working at various London restaurants under Marcus Wareing. Specialising in bold, clean flavours, he regularly updates the line-up to rep the day’s catch. Expect to find the likes of Brixham crab tart with wasabi, mooli, kohlrabi and nori to start, followed by mains such as oven-roasted plaice with kohlrabi, pea, baby gem lettuce and shellfish sauce.
The carefully curated menu always includes quality meat and vegetarian options too.
The delicious dishes have seen The Galley adorned with an array of accolades, including a Michelin plate, a Bib Gourmand and a listing in Harden’s restaurant guide.
Trencherman’s tip
Leave room for the epic cheeseboard of South West dairy favourites such as Kelston Park brie and Pennard Vale goat’s cheese.
