Hive Beach Cafe

Beach Road, Burton Bradstock, Dorset, DT6 4RF

Burton Bradstock is a coastal destination with a difference. At the end of a single-track road leading to calm waters, a pebbled shore and endless horizons is Dorset dining institution Hive Beach Cafe, which has 33 years of experience serving ultra-fresh seafood.

Hive Beach Cafe’s permanent awning and alfresco terrace make dining at this beachy restaurant uber relaxed.

Locals and holidaymakers alike fall hook, line and sinker for the cafe’s fish-focused dishes, which range from sprawling seafood platters (featuring whole West Bay lobster, king prawns, smoked salmon, squid and hake goujons) to doorstep crab sandwiches with handpicked local white and brown crab meat served with salad and coleslaw.

Local suppliers with ethical sourcing credentials bring quality ingredients to the plate. The result is dishes that are so popular the cafe has published three family cookbooks so its signature creations can be recreated by diners in their own kitchens.

Fancy upgrading to a full gourmet getaway? Check out Donkey Lane Cottages nearby. The two 16th-century thatched properties make a delightful base for seaside explorations – and guests receive a ten per cent discount off meals at Hive Beach Cafe.
