Roth Bar

Durslade Farm, Dropping Lane, Bruton, Somserset, BA10 0NL

Nestled within Bruton‘s modish art-cum-lifestyle destination, Roth Bar is a fully functioning bar and art installation housed in The Threshing Barn at Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery.

The vibrant sensory space opened in 2014 and, a decade later, has been reimagined. Myriad lights and various materials deliberately collide to provoke curiosity and conversation, and facilitate the exploration of ideas.

In this sparky space it’s hard to know whether to order a Coffee Caramel Sazerac, a local beer or cider from the surrounding orchards, or a wine from the on-site vineyard. The bar supplements dishes with ethically sourced ingredients and produce from local Somerset suppliers, including farmers, gamekeepers and gardeners.

Dishes include (the famous) Roth Bar smash burger with Ogleshield cheese, bread and butter pickles, and fries; broad bean falafel with Roundhill garden salad; and buttermilk fried chicken with ‘comeback’ sauce.

Regular events such as the Fire Feasts and Sunday Sounds jazz sessions see the chefs cooking meat from the farm over the bar’s firepits. Expect Durslade Farm lamb cooked Argentinian-style, or hay-flamed ChalkStream trout with Dorset lobster.
