Robun

4 Princes Buildings, George Street, Bath, BA1 2ED

Smart Robun restaurant in Bath offers a refreshing alternative to the city’s many brasseries and brunch spots. Crafting a modern take on Japanese yakiniku (the art of grilling meat, seafood and vegetables over a traditional robata charcoal fire), sushi and sashimi, Robun has established itself as one of the region’s most exciting dining spots.

Cult Japanese classics like tempura and gyoza plus bao buns feature on the menus at Robun restaurant in Bath, but be sure to browse more creative dishes such as chef’s selection of fresh sliced sushi and nigiri, lamb cutlets topped with Korean glaze and crispy onions, and wow-factor wagyu ribeye steak served with namjun, truffle tenyaki and Japanese pepper sauce.

For a culinary journey across Japan, however, opt for the Taste of Robun. The eight-course menu is best paired with the house sake (the sake menu is one of the most extensive in the region) and wine recommendations.

Special attention is paid to matching the temperature of the sake to each dish, so the meal begins with a cool sake paired with citrus edamame and progresses to a warmer sake to complement the flavour of black cod.

Trencherman’s tip

Take the train for the opportunity to explore an intriguing cocktail list. The talented bar team have knocked up a bespoke line-up which includes the likes of smoked mezcal Negronis and a sake-infused Tom Collins.
