Former MasterChef: The Professionals finalist and Great British Menu competitor Elly Wentworth continues to fly the flag for female chefs from her celebrated restaurant The Angel of Dartmouth.

Joyce Molyneux, one of the first female chefs to hold a Michelin star, previously ran The Angel, Dartmouth, for 25 years and this spectacular setting is enjoying an exciting era under Elly’s tenure.

The restaurant is a great example of relaxed-yet-refined dining. The team take as much care over guests’ comfort as they do in the sourcing, cooking and presentation of delicacies such as dayboat brill with turnip pickle and smoked sea lettuce sauce.

From the likes of Devonshire lamb with apricot, barbecue cabbage, smoked almond and lamb jus, to the all-white coconut, lychee and yuzu pudding, every minute detail is fashioned with artistry and an eye for presentation.

These meticulously crafted dishes can be enjoyed via tasting menus or à la carte menus for something a little more flexible. Either way, guests are guaranteed Elly’s high standards and culinary creativity.

Seats by the large picture windows offer views over the harbour, so arrive early to explore the impressive drinks menu (which includes a superb wine list and notable local additions) while watching boats bobbing on the River Dart.
