Eight acres of lush countryside on the outskirts of Cheltenham form the backdrop to this 16th-century Elizabethan manor, where lavish Elan Spa treatments are complemented by intricate dining in a tranquil setting.
The Greenway has been a luxury hotel since it was bought out of private ownership in 1946. In 2011, the polished Cotswolds getaway (which takes its name from the pre-Roman path running alongside its grounds) became part of the prestigious Eden Hotel Collection – which won the AA Small Hotel Group of the Year 2024/2025.
The hotel’s three-AA-rosette The Garden Room Restaurant has, fittingly, views of a sunken garden and ornate lily pond. And it’s here, on crisp white tablecloths, that top-tier dinners, Sunday lunches and luxurious afternoon teas provide equal levels of indulgence.
Chef Abhijit Dasalkar puts his creative spin on modern British classics in an à la carte menu that shifts with the seasons. Dishes like Brixham plaice stuffed with scallop mousse rubs shoulders with fusion creations such as char siu pork, Orkney scallop dim sum, and ponzu sauce with chilli and garlic oil.
Desserts further demonstrate the restaurant’s ethos of building dishes around seasonal and local ingredients, for example the summer dish of lemon delice with herb sorbet and raspberry consommé. There’s also an excellent selection of British cheeses.
Trencherman’s tip
For a casual lunch, head to the hotel’s Orchard Brasserie and feast on bento boxes inspired by Mexican, Mediterranean and Japanese flavours.
