2 Fore Street Restaurant

2 Fore Street, Mousehole, Penzance, Cornwall, TR19 6QU

In-the-know gourmets make a beeline for this chic bistro right on the fishing village’s harbour.

Sit inside and drink in the stunning views across Mount’s Bay or, if it’s sunny, head to the secluded courtyard garden. The alfresco area has its own microclimate and is perfect for basking in the sun with a glass of chilled fizz and a dish from a menu of classics. If the oceanside setting stirs a hunger for seafood, the signature twice-baked Newlyn crab and parmesan soufflé or hot Cornish seafood plate with crab mayonnaise is sure to delight.

Only the freshest Cornish fish and locally sourced meat and veggies make their way onto the menus of Raymond Blanc-trained chef patron Joe Wardell.

While this slipway-side dining spot is a real catch for dinner, those heading to the beach opposite are welcome to swing by for morning coffee or lunch. The midday menu includes breezier sustenance such as lemon-sole burgers, cheese and chutney toasties, and crab sarnies.

Anyone considering a weekender in Mousehole should check out The Boatwatch, the restaurant’s cosy apartment on the harbour. Maritime decor, a wood-burning stove and open-plan living area makes it a special find in the town.

Trencherman’s tip

Grab goodies to-go from the sister deli shop, which stocks Da Bara Bakery treats, Freehand coffee, Moomaid of Zennor Ice Cream and wine from Enotria&Coe.
