Situated in a sweet spot between Stokes Croft and Montpelier (the indie-rich quarter of Bristol), Caper & Cure is one of the city’s most compelling dining experiences.
The restaurant is housed within the historic Tucketts Buildings, a department store built in the 1890s that’s enjoyed many guises including a ‘cash chemists’, internet cafe, and arts and music venue.
However, this restaurant takeover may be the most defining moment for the building to date.
Taking a modern-European influence with a leaning toward French cuisine, the intimate restaurant is a go-to for smart and ingredient-led dishes served in a relaxed setting.
That’s not to suggest this isn’t the place for a special occasion. Caper & Cure offers a chef’s table experience where ten gourmets feast next to the open kitchen for supper with a theatrical edge – think The Bear minus the intensity.
The dishes in question are crafted from the finest local and organic ingredients the crew can get their hands on, and executed in style.
A trip could involve devouring the likes of warm crab and crayfish butter with soft herbs and house bread, followed by braised Cornish octopus with cuttlefish and chorizo cassoulet.
Trencherman’s tip
Chase a meal at Caper & Cure with a drop or two at sister bar Carmen Street Wine, located just behind the restaurant. The venue also hosts monthly wine tastings.
