Tucked into a tiny 15th-century fisherman’s cottage overlooking Port Isaac harbour, Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen proves that exceptional dining doesn’t require grand surroundings. With just nine tables, Nathan Outlaw’s intimate restaurant celebrates the daily catch through a fixed menu of seasonal sharing plates.
The menu is dictated entirely by what Cornwall’s inshore dayboats land each morning, resulting in dishes that change with the tides. Recent highlights include cured gurnard tostada with rhubarb ketchup, coriander and lime; soused Dover sole with beetroot and dill yogurt; and monkfish karaage with soy and a seaweed and sesame mayonnaise. Expertly chosen wines complete the experience.
Fish Kitchen is relaxed, understated and deeply connected to its surroundings. Looking through the cottage windows towards the harbour, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting setting for seafood this fresh.
