Set within a Georgian country house surrounded by 15 acres of gardens and a smallholding, Glebe House offers seasonal cooking in a setting that’s every bit as restorative as the food itself.
The restaurant draws heavily on ingredients grown in its kitchen garden and polytunnel, while regional influences from England, Italy and France shape an unfussy yet refined menu. Dishes celebrate the best of land and ocean, from roasted sea bass with a lobster and scallop-stuffed courgette flower and rich bisque sauce, to chicken, leek and wild garlic pie served with new potatoes, garden salad and aioli. Desserts are equally well considered and include the Devonshire Dumpling choux bun with caramelised apples, apple balsamic, vanilla ice cream and cinnamon custard.
Elegant bedrooms, peaceful gardens and a wood-fired sauna overlooking the Coly Valley make Glebe House an easy place to stay long after lunch.
