The view may be the first thing to catch your eye at Zacry’s, but it isn’t what lingers longest. Perched above Watergate Bay, the restaurant pairs one of Cornwall‘s most celebrated coastal settings with modern cooking that reflects the county’s produce and landscape.
Led by executive head chef Chris Eden – the first Cornish-born chef to earn a Michelin star in Cornwall – the kitchen champions seasonal local ingredients with a style that is both confident and refreshingly unfussy. The cooking is thoughtful rather than showy, allowing exceptional produce to take centre stage.
Dishes might include pork belly and scallop with apple, coriander, sea buckthorn and hazelnut; wild mushroom risotto enriched with lion’s mane mushroom and truffle, and finished with nasturtium; and The Rescued Bee honey and white chocolate parfait with Cornish mead and lemon thyme.
Despite the calibre of the cooking at this Watergate Bay restaurant, Zacry’s remains reassuringly relaxed. It’s a place to settle in for dinner while watching the tide transform the landscape beyond the windows.
Trencherman’s tip
Arrive early and sip a cocktail while watching the surfers as the light changes across the bay.
