Alex Polizzi’s Christmas

We sat down with hotelier and TV personality Alex Polizzi of The Polizzi Collection (including Hotel Endsleigh) to ask her how she’s spending Christmas Day this year. Read on to discover her pyjama preference, top turkey-prepping tip and which classic Christmas game is an absolute no-no

Home or hotel for Christmas?

I will be working on Christmas Day at The Star in Alfriston, East Sussex. There will be a full house of guests as well as plenty more non-residents joining us for lunch.

What are you hoping to find under the tree?

Silk pyjamas!

What’s on the table, and who’s cooking?

Our delicious Christmas day menu, but of course I will be serving it rather than eating it.

Give us your top tip for a triumphant turkey centrepiece.

My top tip? Cook the stuffing separately!

Side dishes you simply can’t go without?

Pigs in blankets and red cabbage are my favourite sides.

What’s your pudding preference?

Traditional Christmas pudding with as much brandy butter and brandy cream as it can take.

What’s your drink of choice?

Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne.

What games are you playing – or not?

I refuse to play charades, even hypothetically!

What’s on the box?

The King’s speech.

That sums up Alex Polizzi’s Christmas. What about your plans for 2024?

I want to transform my garden and learn how to become a more green-fingered individual. I’m also keen to visit Japan – it is my top destination I haven’t yet managed to get to.

The thought of splashing £200 plus on dinner for two might make you wince, but every penny is well accounted for in the uber luxe Lucknam Park experience.
