This tiny Truro find delivers a tasting-menu-led offering designed by chef-patron Alfred Petty.
The intimate 20-cover dining room has three menus: Chef Alfred’s Menu, the Vegetarian Tasting Menu and a Pre-Theatre Menu. Each is bookended by canapés (like crisp confit-chicken liver parfait with chilli jam) and the restaurant’s eponymous petits fours.
As you’d expect, everything is made from scratch, from the bouncy focaccia to the truffle ravioli with mushroom tea.
Dishes made for celebration include the trio of lamb – loin, kofta and tagine tart – and a rich compilation of crab and caviar. Yet the restaurant enjoys a loyal following of local gourmets who visit to feast on such delicious indulgences weekly.
Desserts are just as carefully crafted and include combinations such as millionaire’s shortbread with chocolate and caramel crémeux, crumble and tuile.
