Michael Caines’s vision for a contemporary country house hotel continues to set the standard for luxury hospitality in the South West, combining award-winning dining with far-reaching views across the Exe Estuary.

Michael and his kitchen team create tasting and à la carte menus designed to express a sense of place. Dishes include ballotine of duck liver with poached Yorkshire rhubarb, lemongrass and rhubarb jelly, and hazelnut, alongside Cornish turbot with Jerusalem artichoke, scallop mousseline and chive butter sauce. Guests dine in one of three rooms named after views across the estuary: Powderham, Mamhead and Berry Head.

No visit is complete without exploring the cellar, which includes wines from around the world as well as bottles from Lympstone Manor’s own 11-acre vineyard. Its flagship wine is the Lympstone Classic Cuvée.

The wider estate offers plenty to discover, from casual dining at the Pool House Restaurant and Bar to guided vineyard tours, exclusive wine dinners and seasonal supper clubs. Guests can also make the most of the accommodation, outdoor pool, tennis court and sculpture garden.
