Gastronomic getaway in the city
This elegant boutique hotel is just a short stroll from Bath’s buzzy centre but, because it’s surrounded by four acres of award‑winning gardens, it feels a world away.
Tasteful furnishings, art and architecture create a quintessentially English setting for head chef Jauca Catalin’s French‑inspired menus. Fresh local produce is used in exciting dishes which showcase exceptional flavours and balance.
Feast on creations presented with artful finesse such as Cornish wild turbot with scallop mousse, carrot and ginger puree and lemongrass sauce. Note, the bread is fabulous but desserts such as apricot soufflé with toffee ice cream and sauce are worth saving room for.
An exemplary wine cellar and experienced sommelier are on hand to provide judicious pairings for every course.
This fine‑dining experience is found in the three AA rosette restaurant which has views over the gardens. However, there’s also a more casual option in the form of The Pantry & Terrace which offers lighter dishes for breakfast, brunch, lunch and supper.
Trencherman’s tip: in good weather, The Pantry & Terrace is an amazing spot for alfresco dining and drinking, especially in early summer when the wisteria that stretches over the golden Cotswold stone is in full bloom.
